nineteen days

day six

Posted in day six, the fast - 2008 by leila on March 8, 2008

O Companion of my Throne! Hear no evil, and see no evil, abase not thyself, neither sigh and weep. Speak no evil, that thou mayest not hear it spoken unto thee, and magnify not the faults of others that thine own faults may not appear great; and wish not the abasement of anyone, that thine own abasement be not exposed. Live then the days of thy life, that are less than a fleeting moment, with thy mind stainless, thy heart unsullied, thy thoughts pure, and thy nature sanctified, so that, free and content, thou mayest put away this mortal frame, and repair unto the mystic paradise and abide in the eternal kingdom for evermore.”

Bahá’u’lláh

amy: the above quote always reminds me of my mother. she would say it almost every day while driving us to school in the mornings. I am sure she still says it to this day, every day. when I read it, I hear her voice saying it.
It started raining tonight and we are expecting a heavy amount of rain. I wouldn’t mind it if only it weren’t so gray.

leila: this story of fasting with pb&j and service is in my mind. lately i have been really, terribly exhausted. but tonight the sky erupted in storms, and i can feel the refreshment.

Coming here every day is so uplifting. Perhaps you could find a way to continue when the Fast is over.

thank you for that passage. i really needed it today. the negative tone of the world is really testing me in this Fasting season…. like i said earlier, i’m being tested more and more by the mental than the physical…

sarah: thank you. and we might just do that …

barmak: certainly the news, no matter where one looks, is defeating and dispiriting. i try to remember that with the amount of negative input my mind gets from various media every day, i should spend a proportionate amount of time or energy counterbalancing it with affirming, guided, and optimistic views of humanity, the future, and possibilities for progress.

    yas: thank YOU, sweet one!

sham t: do we get to see your “raining in brighton” shots, then? and it is our pleasure to do this every day. we are so glad that people like it.

shirin: i think amy and i both look forward to doing this every day! thank you.

bear: the idea of you smiling makes me smile 🙂 it’s so sweet to me to think that our dawn and dusk photos are making you happy. thank you!

limonana: the colour combination is what also struck me! the strong but muted colours, not turned up to full blast. how complementary.

linda: you are so very welcome; it is our pleasure. thank you so much for these wonderful and loving thoughts!
